king of the Mist - Melee
The Audience with the King, needs big changes for Melee Builds.
In the second phase , the King spawns a tornado that follow the player. Also the king is following you. Tornado is 80 of the time, on top of the King... That should never be coded like this. The Tornado should randomly traverse in the Arena or Wandering around and only sometimes follow the player - for example, the King can cast a totem, that will do that, and u must destroy it. After that, the Tornado will do random things again. I do arbiter and other bosses with no problem - For Example 4th breach, arbiter 2 times. But the King is such a unbalanced pain and should not stay this way not for the first 2 Difficultys Last bumped on Apr 25, 2025, 6:19:01 PM

Just beat him at tier 0 with my warrior. pain in the ass and mostly just avoiding hazards. I come from playing a lot more combat oriented games so i am okay with that type of thing but ARPG players dont want stuff like this. they are not actually interested in difficult combat mechanics, they want difficult scenarios to strategize around.

I have played Fangs of Frost spear and Warrior. GGG is not friendly to Melee.

" Well, I told this on game release. And then after the first patch. And I am telling this again, after 0.2.0: " You are asking for this. And you deserve this. Especially if you league start melee and play with anything but top tier gear. The game is very poorly designed, and it rarely if ever benefits staying in melee range. If you delete your character today, and start fresh new one, I am absolutely sure that your satisfaction with the game will triple. Hoping that GGG will listen and make adjustments, when it was not the case for a decade is very optimistic to say the least. |

It is great that I finally got to the King in the Mist, no XP-penalty is nice. Unlimited attempts is nice. Spend the first half hour dying to phase 1 until I figure out the Mystic Fetish mechanic and thought "brilliant, now I have counter play". Get to the maze; okay follow the light, nice. And then phase 2 comes along and it takes me a couple of tries to realize that phase 2 doesn't give counter play options. I do "okay" damage (meaning not much) in normal gameplay; but against the King in the Mist there is almost no damage uptime since I need to dodge damage non-stop (and when I finally get to hit him I need to get through his energy shield first).
