Scrolls of Wisdom need to go the wayt of Portal Scrolls
Please get rid of them, they add nothing to the game other than a level of tedium. Portal scrolls were removed and it shows how unnecessary they were, scrolls of wisdom are the same.

" That's where you're wrong. There are several reasons why Scrolls of Wisdom will likely never get removed. Let's list some of them: 1) They're part of GGG's vision for this game 2) GGG doesn't care about maintaining a healthy playerbase as long as their launch-league-and-milk-money strategy works (it still works beautifully, just look at SteamDB charts for PoE 1) 3) Adding to #2, you will find people here that defend the existence of Scrolls of Wisdom and they're probably people who will spend more money in this videogame than several of us combined But here's the actual deeper reason: 4) Drops need to feel rewarding. GGG's definitions of "rewarding" revolve around gambling-like systems. It's VERY INTENTIONAL that you drop unidentified items, have to collect the possibly valuable ones and then identify them to check their worth. It's the same loop used in scratch lottery tickets. It tickles most people's primal brains' reward system. E: By the way, it's no mere coincidence that the "crafting" system is pure RNG too 5) Loot filters can filter by mod name. So you can see how dropping identified items will make people hide away the vast majority of the gear dropped because they'll be able to filter out the worthless mod combinations 6) Adding to #5, GGG thinks this game needs to be "hard". GGG's definition of "hard" revolve around copious amounts of turn-off-your-brain-and-grind, not actual skill-based challenges. Because of this, 99% of what you drop is basically worthless. So imagine running 10+ maps and seeing literally zero gear dropped because it's all useless and your loot filter hid it. 7) The scratchcard system they have perfectly masks how little you get for putting your time in this game: you keep seeing shiny drops so you think those several hours you were grinding actually yielded you meaningful progression on your character. Hiding nearly everything you dropped aside from currency will make this game feel worthless to play, just like its drops. And you might think: "Still, isn't it better let the loot filter do the hard work so we don't waste time picking trash and identifying it?" You're absolutely right. But you remember #3? Most of the people who agree with that position don't really put much money into PoE because it's not a game for them. It's a game for the people who like the scratchcard/slot machine mechanics: repeatedly press a button and see if you got the lucky rewards. By the way, aside from all the "hate" I might seem to be spilling here, I perfectly understand that: - This business model is very profitable even with a small playerbase, just go look at Cipsoft's annual earnings release. It's a one-pager with very interesting information. They're a 100-employee company with a profit-per-employee ratio close to high margin technology companies like Intel - Some people do like these systems, it's their opinion and choice and there's nothing wrong with having a different view on the matter - PoE doesn't have to be a game for everyone. It's fine to uninstall it and move on. - The sooner you embrace this last point, the sooner you'll leave this environment, install games better suited for you and never look back Last edited by _rt_#4636 on Jan 21, 2025, 8:13:02 PM
