Can I see my chance to shock?

I've looked all over and can't see my chance to shock with my skills - mainly Falling Thunder. I am worried I have spec'd into too many chances to shock and may be over 100%. I can manually go in and add them and see what I'm at, but this would be added to a base stat I would think and I don't know what that is either. I would think this stat would be listed somewhere in the game.

Hi ScoobyDoo

Shock stat cant be showed in the character screen because is monster dependent.

Every monster has an ailment threshold, which is basically a percentage of their life.

If you hit the monster with a lightning type of damage, you will shock the monster if your damage is higher than the ailment threshold of the monster

The increased chance to shock stat will increase the dmg of the hit for the purpose of the calculation
Hi, thanks so much for clearing that up! I'm interested to learn more about how the stats work together. For example, a % increase in energy shield versus an number like +45 energy shield. Like what is the % based on because it appears that a regular number like the +45 seems to be a larger increase. I'm interested to see how those are calculated.

Is there a resource online that explains more about how these work? I know there is a lot that goes into these stats and some are additive and other multiplicative, and It's sort of interesting to me to learn a little more about this.

Thanks,
Scoobs
https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Modifier#Local

This is from the PoE1 wiki but most of the modifier rules are the same in PoE2. This page just explains some content that isn't in PoE2.

Anyway, what's relevant is some modifiers are global (apply to your character) and local (apply to your weapon/armour). If for example you had a pair of boots with 20 energy shield and a prefix that reads "40% increased Energy Shield"; that prefix is local to the boots. So it's a 40% increase to the 20 ES the boots have, and not a 40% increase your your total Energy Shield on your character.

Also keep in mind that all increases are additive. You might have several global sources of '%increased Energy Shield' totalling 400% increased ES. Picking up another 20% inc ES node will just take you from 400% to 420% increased ES; a relative increase to your total by 5%.

Ok great. I'm new to this game so it feels like a lot to learn, but it's very fun and the more I understand about the stats the more fun this is. I will check out that info from wiki.
Thanks!

If an item has +% Increased Energy Shield, it will increase -that items- Energy Shield. Similarly, if an item has +X Energy Shield, it will increase -that items- energy shield. Quality will then increase the sum of these totals.

If you have a passive skill that provides +% Increased Energy shield, it will look at your total Energy shield from Items and passives added together, and then modify it by your total +% Increased Energy Shield. Thus, a character with a ton of investment in +X% Increased Energy shield gets a lot more out of it if every item is pure ES, particularly if they are all high numbers. This is a factor for considering off item slots, like a Unique with +Armor, but a very valuable property you might want to use.

In addition, things like Auras typically get added before Passives do, so an ally with Discipline can see a MUCH bigger ES value if it jives with their skills.

The link above that Muzein provided is the formal explainer about it, but that is the PoE1 explanation. While I have no reason to believe it will work any different here, their could be discrepancies using the PoE1 wiki for PoE2. Note that there is a link to the PoE2 Wiki in the official wiki's front page, but some data there may be blank or incorrect at this point, as it's still a work in progress (much like the game itself). I'm also happy to field explanations for other things in the game if you need a more lived in explanation, since not everyone can make sense of a wall of text in a Wiki.
I recommend Path of Building. It will provide you your chance to shock based on a predetermined monstery type you select within POB.

Any new player that thinks they will be sticking around for a few leagues needs to learn how to use and navigate POB.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the help!

I installed path of building and it looks very cool. I tried to import my character, but it says "The account has no characters to import."

I updated my account to not private don't have hide characters checked. I looked on the forum a bit and it sounds like there are lots of problems with character import. I also tried restarting the path of building app but still same error. I will have to try again later.

Am I doing something wrong or is it something with it connecting to their servers etc.?
I play via Steam, it looks like that could be an issue?
