Questionable Death Analysis

I die...a lot. Sometimes from my own obvious stupid mistakes, but frequently I find the burst damage is so insane it is quiet challenging to get within melee range as a monk long enough to get a single full series attack from tempest flurry on trash mobs, and near impossible on rare mobs or bosses. And then we have the un-telegraphed damage as shown in the view below. I do not see how I could have known about or avoided the 2.6k+ damage that occurred in less than 0.5 seconds. I have reviewed the video frame by frame and I still cannot see what even hit me. What am I missing here?

Here is another. This one is just frustrating and a little less of a head scratcher as I think I can see what happened. One might also argue I may have survived if I had more chaos resist seeing as I am in the low 20's as I prioritized the other 3 element resists.

While it was dumb of me to hangout just inside of the damage aura, I am not sure it would have mattered. Right around 4.66 second mark a purple orb appears just under the tree branch I am passing, which is what I think killed me. But I take over 1.4k burst damage and die at the 5.13 second mark, giving me nearly 0.5 seconds to react. Even if the orb was not obscured by the environment I don't think I could have reacted in time before an insta-death.

The hits just keep on coming. I will give you there was a minor skill/awareness issue here as I missed the 1/4 of the magic fire ring on the ground which is what looks like I died from. Although it is hardly noticeable as it clips through the environment and buried under ice shards. Just a little frustrating a single frozen trash mob can drop over 2k insta-damage against full resists.

Your last combat clip is the best by far in terms of technique. Reason being, you’re constantly moving. That’s what needs to be done when fighting these Harvard graduate monsters. They’re literally tracking your every move and the second you’ve stayed in the same spot for too long - you’re dead. That’s another reason why dodge roll is so important during combat bc it resets the amount of time you have for them to hone in on your position. Add some dodge rolls into your combat mechanics and you’ll die a lot less.
I am using blink so my dodge has a cooldown, so I try to conserve it for those "oh sh%t" moments, but I do use it to a high degree, sometimes overly so to my dismay. I picked myself up some move speed boots though and that seems to have helped more than I would have thought.

Next on the list is to try and save up for a better DPS gear. Might need to shed some magic find and build two gear sets, one for map pushing and one for more casual runs with magic find.

Always happy to take the constructive critique. Thanks!
