Maps completion on killing boss or last mob ?

Ive stopped playing because got tired running back and forward in crappy map labirints for 10 minutes looking for last remaming mob.

Can someone tell me please

is it all the same ? or something changed ?
does all maps require to kill every single mob ?

That was never the case. U have to kill all RARE monsters and the Map boss (if existing) to get the map completion. GGG recently added checkpoints to maps that help with backtracking a little bit.
