Waypoints in maps after patch still bad, but...
So after the patch i thought the waypoints in maps would eaze up the finishin of a map but i almost never profit from them because
1. no activated WP near the last rare. 2. the way to run is the same as the nearest WP 3. after i ran to the rare monster i find a unactivated WP near it... So whats the point, if they dont change further. i probably profit from a WP 1 time in 20 maps. So. 1. add more WP to a map ! 2. Activate all when the rares are shown on the map too ! Yeah. They are an improvement but far from perfect.
Why not activate them all from the get go and let players travel to them right away (just in endgame maps of course). The hidden map areas will have the player still walk around and search for rares anyway. But at least you will never miss a waypoint that was "just around the corner". |

Waypoints don't even fit into randomly generated maze-like layouts, because there is no logic to spawn them and players bump into them completely randomly. They are a 'placeholder' fix for a placeholder mechanic (kill all rares) and mostly useless.
To make them useful, maps would need to be constructed from 'contextual zones' with every zone having its own waypoint. Players would progress through zones in a linear fashion and use waypoints at the end of the map if backtracking was necessary. Not to mention the current activation radius is way too small. You can pass by it and it won't even activate. But remember - they are just a 'hotfix' for a placeholder mechanic. When night falls

The last epoch solutions would be great.
If there is X amount of rares left they spawn near you. Maybe we need a button for it so people won't get swarmed by surprise. But if there are, let's say, 2 rares left, being able to spawn them near you would be great. Waystones should spawn at mechanics. Breach hands, altars, boss room. That would be great. And you should be able to use them without the need to be at another waypoint. |

I just found a waypoint that spawned in a map region that is not accessible. So as such I cannot even activate the spawn point.
