Trial of Chaos Quest - No ascendency points rewarded

I have just completed the trial of chaos quest - from the ultimatum dropped by the chimera. This was supposed to award the points, however after completing the trial and interacting with the statue for ascendency. No points were award and I could do nothing. Am I now down 2 extremely important points forever?

Is there anything I can do?
