Characters changed to alt account?

I was having trouble trading when I started playing because I got a weird couldn't whisper the guy because my account wasn't linked to in game. My toons got put on a different account I made years ago the guy resolved the problem and all of a sudden my characters are back on my other account after a month and now I can't trade again? Anyone had this happen?
