Keep the vision and nerf a lot - or change the vision?
So PoE2 was presented with the vision of having a more deliberate tempo in combat than PoE1. This shows in lots of skill design - like the idea was that you'd use one skill to cause daze, and another skill to then stun dazed opponents, stuff like that.
But of course it is safe to say that this is not how most players play the game. The playerbase quickly figured out builds where you use 1-2 skills and kill all normal and magic monsters before stuns become relevant, while your main skill damage is so high, that rares and bosses you stun through damage, not through setting up some stun priming or dazing first. The vision of having tactical, deliberate gameplay where you combo different skills and where skill expression is high has not been realized. It is possible to play like that, but it is very easy to not, and by not playing like that, you clear faster while also being more safe. Hence, the question is.. If the vision is something that GGG wants to stick to, a lot of nerfs are needed. POTCG needs nerfing, Archmage needs nerfing, DD needs nerfing, ... A lot of rebalancing is needed. We are looking at situations where damage players is doing needs to be nerfed by a factor of ten. That will undoubdetly make lots of players feel bad, and honestly, given how large e.g. Act 3 is and how much grinding proceeding in the maps is, it would feel silly to play this game like intended; clearing stuff fast with a single skill simply feels better with the current level and monster design. But if huge nerfs are not done, what's the new vision going to be? Is it going to be explicit - e.g. is GGG going to specifically change the vision and present a new one for PoE2? Or is it going to be implicit? I think that would be bad - having a non-written down vision for any product easily means that the product becomes a jumbled mess of different ideas. Will we have a new vision? Or will we try to stick to the original vision and balance accordingly? Last bumped on Jan 12, 2025, 2:00:53 PM

Size of the maps alone makes the game slower paced just like they said.
But the combo of movement skills all being garbage makes the game a slog as it is. You slow this game pace down anymore you wont have anyone playing it. Sure you can insta blink like D2. But between the cost and the loss of power it is just a novelty for clearing low safe maps. They need to unleash the movement skils and give us more options on movement speed. The games pace is way too slow now. Needed bigger maps or to nerf movement skills. Both at the same time was a bridge too far. And people not clearing in PoE2 like they were in poe 1. Heck things like the fli8cker strike build or the way back winters orb and molten strike builds make any build in poe2 look weak. Last edited by amazingmaze111#9945 on Jan 12, 2025, 1:55:58 PM
