Acrobatics question
Can someone explain acrobatics to me? I do not understand why I would care if I lose 70% evasion if I can evade all hits. I'm feeling really stupid for not figuring this out.

Normally, there are damages you can't evade, such as AoE attacks. Acrobatics allows you to get the chance to dodge all those damage sources. But, the evade rate will be the reduced 70%.
So, for example, if your base evasion chance is 75% and after taking acrobatics it's down to say 30%. Then: 1. Without acrobatics, AoE damage = 100% hit, normal attacks = 25% hit (roughly) 2. With acrobatics, AoE damage = 70% hit (roughly), normal attacks = 70% hit (roughly). So it's sort of a tradeoff of taking on more hits in return of getting a chance to dodge normally non-evadable attacks. |

" Easy there Exile, the keystone is no longer behaving as in PoE 1, what you mention is misleading because AoE damage does not count as a hit: To clarify for OP, Acrobatics gives you a guaranteed chance to evade all types of Hits at the cost of 70% less Evasion Rating, and as you wonder, this is a trade-off because there are ways for players to take advantage of it in various ways such as converting all Evasion Rating # into Armour at a 1:1 ratio via the Iron Reflexes keystone. For this and other reasons, the keystone has the 70% penalty, otherwise, it'd be abused in combination with other items and Notables from your passive tree to abuse the Evasion Rating. Cheerios~ |

So add in AOE for less chance to evade. Thank you both.

" You're misunderstanding it. Acrobatics gives you 100% guaranteed Evasion against melee hits, punches, and projectiles either being from an attack such as arrows or spells such as sparks or fireballs but it will not allow you to evade Area of Effect damage, such as a slam. An example that includes both types of damage in one attack would be the final boss from Act 2 uses a Lightning-infused spear/rod against you, this rod is a projectile-based attack and if you have the Acrobatics keystone, this hit will be dodged, however, this projectile once colliding with the ground/wall, it creates a small lightning explosion AoE which cannot be dodged by Acrobatics keystone. I think another way of seeing it is that AoE is not a hit but rather the aftershock effect from something else, think of a bomb... it first "hits" a surface, an explosion or shockwave comes after as a result. " this is correct, the other guy is wrong | |
"You're mixing strikes and hits. Acrobatics description lacks the Hits keysword pop-up unfortunately. Slams are not strikes, but they both hit to deal damage. Acrobatics expands your evasion ability, allowing it to evade all hits, not only strikes and projectiles. "I didn't get how Can Evade all Hits became Always Evade all Hits. Also with or without Acrobatics, evasion rating will be converted at a 1:1 ratio. Conversion "is no longer behaving as in PoE 1". |
