I'm Tired of Single-Use Maps
Can I get a genuine answer to the single-use maps? Sometimes I die at the same time as the map boss and I lose out on all loot?! Why did you guys introduce "lose map instance upon death?" It's a terrible idea and it's discouraging to play maps because of it.

It's the only thing I hate about the game and it's ruining it for me. It makes no sense and feels absolutely awful every single time it happens.

In PoE 1 it is impossible to lose anything with a glass cannon build. You would just kill everything within two screens and only pickup loot. Sometimes a boss could kill you once, within the two seconds it takes to kill it. But you would just go through the portal and loot.
Zero chance of losing. 100% success chance, risk free. That's where the game is coming from. In PoE 2 the idea was to promote more balanced, tankier builds and disincentivize glass cannon builds. The one portal map was one of the ideas how this may be achieved. Also, keep in mind that this is early access and balance will happen over a long period of time. |

Cap your resistances and you wont die much at all early mapping. Chaos res matters a lot too.
Later on youll need at least 2 layers of defense unless you are playing an ES build. For instance armor+block or hybrid eva+ES. The market is old at this point so finding cheap gear with like 75+ to all res on it for a couple exalts is trivial. 1 portal maps is the only thing adding any kind of friction for non new players, and XP loss is literally a non factor till 92+.
