Mind over Matter and CI not taking Mana damage, straight to ES

I'm playing the CaptainLance9 build archmage spark stormweaver, using the endgame block based build (so far).
https://maxroll.gg/poe2/build-guides/archmage-spark-stormweaver-build-guide#gearing-header I have taken the full tree, except the crit nodes on the right as I'm only lvl 93, but this shouldn't matter to what I'm seeing. So I go and stand in a small pack of creatures and let them hit me. I watch my ES drop and my mana stays steady. I've removed the MoM node, and I get the great regen and the damage to my ES looks the same. I tested also removing CI and keeping MOM, and it still doesn't matter, damage goes to ES first, then to life, never touching Mana. So either I'm not understanding the way the mechanics work when using CI with MoM or there is something bugged. I tend to think it's a me problem, not a game problem, can anyone help me sort this? Some additional testing. MoM doesn't work using using CI, you're just hurting your regen but not gaining any benefit.
I removed CI and let creatures remove all of my ES, and once they were going for life, it started pulling from the Mana. So any build using MoM and CI is doing it wrong? |

MOM+CI takes damage from ES first and once ES reaches 0 it starts taking from mana. You die when both together reach 0.

I have a suspicion that you are using The Everlasting Gaze amulet along with the Eldritch Battery passive node. If you remove the amulet and remove EB, then MoM with CI will work correctly

MoM specifically says "before Life", not ES.
Its meant in the most literal sense possible, which means it works as intended. |
