The Three Dragons + Black flame Chonk Build issues

So I'm trying to get this build to function properly, but I'm worried I misunderstood something... I'm attempting to use Ice Strike to ignite my bell and enemies, ignited bell will then do fire damage (ignite will be chaos damage bc black flame) to enemies when hit which should shock them instead of ignite. Herald of thunder will then contribute to freeze build up.

I cant seem to ignite a single enemy after testing and playing around with supports though. Without the ignite I cant shock or freeze. Did I misunderstand something or is the three dragon mask not working as stated?

Do you have ignite chance increases?
I have tried ignition support and some other combos of support gems but im short the funds atm to make it to ignite chance in the passive tree, working on it currently though

EDIT (I got some ignite chance in passive nodes, and its working now... working on getting more so i can ignite on the third strike of ice strike)

Nice, yeah it is very difficult to ignite with fire damage without significant ignite chance. I think most monsters have ignite threshold = to life so your base chance to ignite with full fire damage is never going to go above 25%.

You would need total +800% ignite chance to reach 100% chance to ignite after dealing 50% monster hp in fire damage in the case where their life = their ignite threshold.


Blackflame works best with burning ground and it's main purpose is to scale ignite from fire damage, shock + despair and wither instead of flamability +shock. This is because it scales from max (in your case cold) fire damage from hit with pen but not any debuffs on enemies and then the ignite damage itself then scales from debuffs on enemies.




Ah I see, I do have wither setup on a second bell (with chaos infusion and envenom (the one thats not 8 second cooldown) to test out. Despair and freezing mark in hand of chayula and a random contagian with chaotic freeze. Also testing out birth of fury since you made the comment about burning ground but im also using ghostwrithe armour so not sure if it calculates my health post conversion or pre conversion.
The burning ground boots arent worth it. Ignite also doesn't stack so you only really want one source of big hit damage ignite if you can help it. Blackflame has a big duration penalty to ignite which makes it suboptimal for total dps this way unless you can apply it often.

I use double blackflame on incinerate with some duration nodes so my ignite lasts less than a second but the burning ground lasts for 12 seconds so I just need to apply burning ground and I get a full 12 seconds of chaos ignite.

For your setup, The third hit of ice strike is the thing you want to juice with as much cold damage and crit if you want to max ignite. If you attack often enough and have enough ignite chance you might be able to keep it up for full attack duration.

That said, even with that, ignite also needs some significant ignite magnitude to deal high damage so I doubt it will be easy scale it very high on your build.

It is an interesting ailment/conversion loop though.

Also try withering presence with increased duration for withering if you can spare the spirit.

The boots make it instantaneous to ignite the bell which sets up the shocks faster. resulting in more upfront damage than the slow buildup I've been having, biggest ignite will take precedence anyways right? Trying withering presence though! thanks for yalls input its much appreciated!

Ah right I forgot you need to ignite the bell for your build to work. It does limit you to lower movespeed than rares though so there is that. I haven't tried it but does flame wall ignite the bell? It might be too clunky but it could be an alternative.

Tried flame wall and solar orb, neither will ignite it instantaneously like the burning ground does =(

EDIT (Trying Tempest flurry, it seems to be working better. Lightning freezes so herald of ice will proc when they shatter... just need to keep toying with it i think to figure out what works best.
