First time poe player, thoughts over the game so far
I inteded to play Druid but since it's not out i decided to play monk. Over the course of the first 3 acts on normal, i felt it was a slog, game looks great but the speed in which things occur is too slow.
-White mobs getting you stuck around a wall and basically destroying you with autoattacks wasn't fun. -Takes way too long to get skills/suport gems, even tho i'm an old player(played severall arpgs etc), how you start getting things in PoE 2 made the game a 1-2 button spam for too long, swaping builds and trying new spells felt empty, hard and irrelevant. I'm gonna use Nioh as an example, Nioh is a soulslike game with several complex posture/attack mechanics that looks fantastic. Early on making a build or even fighting normal mobs is super rough, things are just hard and using combos or making the proper build really confusing. Fastfoward to endgame and what we have is basically 1-2 hit builds using the soul/spell system. So all the complexity of what the game was, is basically reduced to 1-2 tapping mobs or bosses which completely ruins the game imho. But that's how the devs thought people would enjoy endgame. Poe 2 feels just like that, the game is severely lacking in any real directions or guides to any player. Finding them online is easy, but i shouldn't be reading stuff outside of the game to understand basic concepts on how to upgrade gear or use shards properly. There are far too many super punishing time consuming situations in the game, for no reason. I understand it's early access, but getting 1 shot by random dinamites or chaos orbs while i'm stuck by 50 white mobs in my screen isn't compelling gameplay, specially if i have minions with hasted that basically stun lock me in place while a freeze rare is stoping me from doing anything. I was under the assumption PoE 2 was going to be entirely different combat wise then PoE1, but any build you look is basically a PoE1 build that's being used in PoE 2, using 2-3 skills to clear a entire map isn't interesting, you are removing the strategy from gameplay with terrible generation of mobs per map. In some maps with a wide zone to dodge and whatnot i get mobs that barely move, in cramped maps i get immunnity aura hasted dinamite throwing mobs that basically make moving trough the map horrid. You need to fix, resistances, randomization of mobs/affixes per width of the map, drastic reduction on dmg from small projectiles/teleportation mobs. The scaling in which basically invisible things ruin an entire map is ridiculous. Ascendancy trials are just horrid atm, anything that have a currency with 1 attempt per hours of farm is just bad design, PERIOD. Game have really bad optimization, getting my pc locked when the map is loading is ridiculous in 2024, this should be a priority fix for january. There are tons of improvements needed, i could sit here and make a giant list, but i want to see what you feel is the most urgent things needed for patching before i commit myself into a massive post. Your perception of what's wrong with the game atm for me is more important then what feedback i'm giving for you to listen, let's see what you gonna patch first and how you see it as a problem that needs to be fixed. Show me you understand player priorities, or here we go again with a game that will destroy it's player base for 2-3 years of tons of hotfixes till the game is playable. What I see as the main things that would improve the game
1. Reduce visual clutter cant see my character or the boss when a full group fires off their spells needs toned down big style. 2. Random one hit kills ( oh but the boss telegraphs his moves .... cant even see me or the boss sometimes) 3. Ascendency trial ..... ouch who thought this was a good design I hated the labrynth in POE 1 but at least it was well designed. |
