Stuttering Mess On High Performance Gaming Machine
I almost immediately paid to get into this game. I've been looking forward to it since its announcement. I even went out and spent a small fortune on upgrading to a new gaming laptop:
ROG Zephyrus G16 Intel Core Ultra 9 185H NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 32 Gigs RAM 2 Gigabit Home Internet I cannot walk around the game world without stuttering my way through it, every few seconds. I've messed with the graphics settings through the NVIDIA App, turning them all the way to "Performance" and everywhere in between. It's a very fresh laptop and have virtually no background tasks running outside of the default. Framerates show consistently above 100fps I even have the processor overclocked, and the app is running on the GPU. I'm just at a loss here, and I see many others with similar complaints, but I've struggled to find any resolution. When I see videos on youtube of buttery smooth recordings my heart hurts a little... what in the world is wrong with my laptop? Can someone please help me unlock the performance I've become desperate for?? Last bumped on Jan 4, 2025, 8:08:15 PM

Hello DannyLee11 o/
Try the below if you have not already, hopefully there will be at least one that you can still try. First things first, lets rule out server lag spikes. Press F1 and monitor both your ping, and, the "network" ping. They are separate and if either spike you will get what looks like frame lag. Also monitor the "Shader" graph, if its constantly maxing out, you will want to either disable it in your nvidia control panel or change the size to 10 gigs or higher. If the above two look stable, change your desktop resolution to match the in game resolution (seemed to help for me) Change from Direct X12 to Direct X11, and then Vulkan if that does not work. Or Valkan first, your choice. There is an option for Multi-Threading. Un-tick it and see what happens. Go to task manager, in the details tab, set the pathofexile priority to high. In windows, set your graphics card to Performance for Path of Exile. Nice Laptop. Hopefully the next client patch will take care of the bigger frame issues like this one.
