Bot/RMT spam is out of control in POE2EA.

Every time I put an item up for trade, I get immediately spammed by level 2 RMT bots with RMT site urls. Which means, those botters are using trade to farm character names just based on people using trade.

This is obviously not ideal and you've had over 10 years to fix this nonsense, but here we still are.

After the many thousands of dollars I've spent on the game, do you think you could take some of that and do something about this type of RMT-spam vector? This is pretty basic stuff...

To be clear, yes I've always been reporting these if they DM me like this. It doesn't seem to help that it also takes hours to address this stuff.. which means you're still doing manual account actions for this stuff in the year 2025.

And I get that you may be collecting forensics to do wide-sweeps before taking action. I get that it's an arms race. I've been behind the scenes at multi-million customer live service abuse centers. The problem is: by design, you as the game developer, create this ease-of-target scenario. The analogy is you're letting the house burn down while studying how to make fire proof furniture. The customer/player perception is: I get harassed multiple times, it creates a crap gaming experience, I end up having a negative sentiment of your game going forward.

I'm sorry that there's more work to do right now than you have staff. I'm sorry NZ labor laws are too restrictive for you to just hire experts to re-tool backend systems and address the very live problems. It super sucks because the *potential* for the game is so high.. but man.. come on. *Show* me you can do better.

Thanks.

Considering GGG is owned by Tencent I would not be surprised if they are the ones running most of the RMT sites. You are correct that they have had a decade to fix this. I don't think they want too.

I assume that is why we are getting logged out non-stop all day long, but I guess it isn’t working.
5 to 10 per day... That's where the bot spam is for me. A simple regex to block DM's if there is domain name text in the DM *may* help.

every time i write anything in global chat , a few seconds later i get anywhere from 2-6 bot PM , about rmt sites , and its always different bots .

they do be running wild .
they do so because people are buying their stuff. Gamers in 2025 are the real issue here.
would be cool to introduce a level requirement i mean how mean how many random messages to players is a normal person gonna need to send before they even hit level 10. I would prefer to have a system where players of a lower lvl couldn't even message me unless i allowed it and i'm a player who would help lower level players this is making me wanna turn on dnd for most of my game time
"
[x] Disable direct message default permissions
. [x] Allow whispers from the trade site direct message button.
. [x] Allow whispers from people in your party
. [x] Allow whispers from people currently in your hideout
. [x] Allow whispers only from players who have completed the campaign

There's ways the game COULD reduce the current widely permissable volume of spam.

I wonder how much of the current Steam player count is bots.
Rampant spam forces players to turn off all public channels the very first moment they log into the game.

20 year old trading forces players to open themselves back up by whispering spammers/botters/etc to find a real player trading an item.
