Vine Arrow plants do not work with most listed support gems.
Vine Arrow ability shoots an arrow that lands, doing minor damage in an area and then creating a plant (vine) which spreads its vines to nearby enemies.
The arrow itself does almost no damage but it counts as a Hit for the purposes of game mechanics and gems. The plant (vine) itself gets a damage increase if it has been hit by a players poison ability (like Gas Arrow), but this does not change the plants (vines) interaction with gems and game mechanics. The plant (Vine) itself: - does not Hit - does not Poison - only inflicts Chaos damage over time - does not seem to benefit from bonuses based on enemy proximity to the plant - does not have/use a weapon This makes the plant (Vine) itself incapable of benefiting from the vast majority of the relevant support gems that are listed as "compatible" with the Vine Arrow. I believe the problem comes from the fact that the meaningless basic arrow that creates the plant (vine) is a real Hit/Attack which works with most support gems , but that is absolutely meaningless because the whole point of the ability is the Vine plant and the vines it spreads. Please look into this cool ability and rework it so that it can actually properly utilize the support gems. Just making the plants (Vines) count as Hit and Poison would actually be a huge improvement. Thanks! Last bumped on Jan 20, 2025, 8:59:14 PM

I've been testing this as well, several supports don't seem to increase vine arrow's damage - including when it's poisoned. This is a fairly simple thing to test with a unique enemy that has energy shield.

Agreed, upping post. with the fact that it doesn't poison and just does chaos damage over time should mean it can hinder but that also doesn't work.
