STR stacking Ice Crash Inquisitor

Hi.

I'm building for an STR stacking inquisitor and I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong because whenever I switch from an STR item to a flat cold damage or similar I get a boost of over 20k damage in PoB.
I managed to reach 1300 STR with two 'Cold to the Core' nodes and %dmg per 100 STR gloves. All that for like 1.08M damage total.

After swapping a couple of items and lowering my STR to 960 I increased my damage to around 1.5M. I've looked up on the internet and they mention two very specific items required for STR stacking so I was wondering... Is this build reliant on those items to work and if I don't get those items I'd be better off focusing on cold damage?

I lost a lot of resilience because attribute mods don't leave space for defensive mods like % physical damage reduction and such. I don't want to follow a guide to a T (most of the fun I get is from figuring out the build) but I'd like some advice to avoid experimenting in the wrong direction. Should I forget about STR stacking or if I hard commit it will eventually get better even without specific uniques?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your answer!

I don't have Iron Fortress. I have a warlord influenced armour with +10% STR and +40 STR instead. My plan was to try to abuse the double cold to the core nodes, Inquisitor's INT to crit node and the gloves' influenced mod.

Regarding the frostbite, while refurbishing my build I lost a lot of crit chance so my normal attacks do nothing vs cold resistant enemies and I thought it could help. Before that, I had intimidating cry. I'll try assassin mark out.

I've been toying with PoB and if I completely drop the STR stacking and focus on cold damage and resilience I become much tankier but I lose +/- 300k damage.
If I leave the build as is I'm much squishier than I'd like but at least I can do bosses much quicker. Going back to full STR focus would be the middle ground (would lose some damage but would be decently tanky). Either way my build doesn't allow me to do T17 maps (I can do delve bosses, elder slayers, conqueror maps, etc but T17's are impossible).

I suppose that, if I want to make the STR stacking work, I must use Iron Fortress and Brutus' Lead Sprinkler, right? Otherwise it would be better to just go for regular stuff like crit, phys/cold/elemental damage and such, right?

Thanks again for your time!
