PoE2 story theory - Possible spoilers of poe2 story. you have been warned

one thing interesting in path2, is that we are SENTENCED TO DEATH by the count. death by hanging in fact.

thus Path of Exile is a WRONG NAME to give the game.

in fact, if you pay attention, NO ONE calls you EXILE, which is unlike the first game.

we still have 3-4 acts still left uncovered so if GGG wants to get us back on track thematically, my best guess is that on our journey to destroy the beast or as part of our efforts to destroy the beast, the player gets thrown OUT of the timeline as a result. thus we are exiled from our timeline/universe.

the end game is us traversing the endless universe, forever exiled from returning to our original timeline. we can revisit the campaign areas but similar to what we have now, all the areas we have already completed are frozen in the past. you are unable to change the future and revisiting towns are just snapshots of the past, theres no new conversations to be had. time does not progress. a meaningless existence.

i love the lore of poe2.

poe1's lore tho deeps was more of an afterthought were a lot of gaps were left out leaving gaps that allowed for further story telling

poe2? fucking shit. i m invested. i actually stayed awhile and listened to npc dialogues.

really miss this d1/2esque feeling where sometimes just chilling and listening to npcs talk is fun.

fun fact.

sin deus ex machina's away our language barrier between us and ancient vaal by saying our modern language is based on ancient vaal.

with just a few lines of dialogue we have a cannon reason why we can converse with ancient vaal with no issues lol
