[Need Help] Monk Invoker (ICE/LIGHTNING) Ice Strike | Falling Thunder
Passive Tree and Items: https://maxroll.gg/poe2/planner/ig5s00f1
I've been trying very hard to make Falling Thunder work. My problem seems to be maintaining Power Charges. As far as I'm aware, I have selected everything I can to accrue as many power charges as possible via Resonance and Combat Frenzy. My max power charges are 7 atm. Is there a more reliable way to ensure that I gain power charges instead of Ice Strike? Letting go of Ice Strike seems like a hard pill to swallow as it has enormous damage and its great for single target. Having 7 power charges for falling thunder is extremely ideal. Sometimes I can cast it with 1 or 2 and it will give me max power charges because of Lust for Power I could use a little advice as I feel like I'm a little lost on where to continue taking this build. Obviously I need to get more jeweler orbs to support skills. But in terms of passive tree nodes and general skill advice, I am wondering if anyone has any feedback. Thank you! Has poe2 unique fists like poe1 that improve unarmed strikes? Then you could use siphoning strike (if thats the one that teleports to cullable targets).
I like ice strike and charged staff Last edited by Wahnsinn666#4712 on Jan 3, 2025, 10:25:32 AM

Profane Ritual gives you a power charge when cast on a corpse. This is what i use but i went full lightning damage as you need corpses for it and ice shatters everything.Instead of ice skill points on the tree i went for increase shock magnitude and critical strike chance. I have it complimented with increased cast speed and chance to give another charge also chance for corpse not to be destroyed.
Killing fist also gives a power charge on kill and has culling strike. I use it on enemies that have low life and also a way to travel. With the proper support gems it can one shot white and blue mobs on critical. Finally Lingering illusion leaves a short copy of yourself when you roll and if it get hit you gain power chargers. You could easily get all 6 power charges if you time your roll with enough enemies strikes or you could just use ground effects. With 7 charges falling thunder just clears anything on screen at augmented t15 maps if it hits a critical. Even bosses. |

Unfortunately, I don't think any of these options will help much. They will slow down the build's flow immensely.
As it is now, Ice Strike will 1 shot most things as well as Falling Thunder. I get my charges through simply freezing and shocking enemies. I was wondering if there is a more reliable way to get charges initially. I find it extremely easy to freeze enemies for charges initially rather than shock. I can't cast on corpses because I shatter most enemies with the help of Polcirkeln ring. I tested out full shock build and I felt like I had to put in a lot more effort to kill enemies and charges were not building. The combination of both seems to be the only way to consistently get charges and spend. The issue is I'm spending charges constantly. Many builds atm gather charges just for charged staff. I am spending them on falling thunder and charged staff. So I am definitely power charged starved. |

You need a better quarterstaff. Get at least +5 to all melee skills and 600dps. You can search for weapons that already have the +5 and open prefixes so you can slam them and hope for the best. The levels in the melee skills will increase the magnitude of your skills by a lot and you will need less hits, thus less power charges, to clear the maps.
Edit: also add quality to your current one until you replace it. Last edited by Neuri#6944 on Jan 4, 2025, 2:19:03 AM

unique amulet: serpents egg. It gives an additional charge whenever you gain a charge.
skill gem: snipers mark. When you critical hit the marked enemy, you get a frenzy charge. Maybe autocast this by one of the persistent metabuffs. |

I think there’s a way to change the electrocute to shock. I’m sure it’s either by support gems which you then put into your herald of thunder. This way you gain the charge from that. I had the same issue so reverted to ice monk but now I’m slowly going through end game I’m looking to respec back into thunder with freeze .

If you have Chaos Infusion you can equip Lingering Illusion skill gem with the Persistence support gem, then put the Minion Pact support gem on your Ice Strike. Now all you have to do is roll and quickly attack with Ice Strike and you'll get free charges. It's great for going in to a boss fight with full charges.
