Game keeps crashing - PathOfExileSteam.exe / KERNELBASE.dll error

Every time I start the game, I make it to the main menu, then character selection. After selecting my character and starting the game, it crashes. Only the game crashes. My computer is still running.

I found a fix that is working for me. I downloaded "Intel Extreme Tuning Utility" and set the "Performance Core Ratio" to 50x (was at 57). Game has been running ever since
