Item with skill and support gems disappear on swap

I had Corpsewade boots with Decompose skill and 4 support gems socketed then on swap with other boots they completely disappeared. This was on PC using a controller. I guess when I was swapping with rare boots(no skill and support gems on them) I didn't have enough space for the support gems and that could be causing the bug.
