AUTO LOCKED targeting issue

First I'm sure this is a console-only issue because the game is played with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse. Nevertheless, it is by far the biggest annoyance/issue I have found.

When there are mobs within the game display area, it is NOT POSSIBLE to pick up items on the floor, or interact with chests or other devices/mechanisms with the "X" controller button. I am FORCED to deal with and KILL ALL MOBS FIRST, then and only then can I pick up the loot on the floor, or interact with other devices or things with the "X" controller button.

Why is this an issue?

Because there are many times when I want to pickup loot BEFORE I engage with mobs. This should be possible. And I'm sure PC players CAN DO THIS because they can just click on the items with the mouse regardless of how many mobs are around them on the screen. Another disadvantage this creates is for the Trials of Sekhemas, where you need to click on those lighted orbs quickly, I am forced to waste time killing all the nearby mobs FIRST, but I actually just want to ignore the mobs by dodge rolling past them and clicking on the light orb and move on to the next orb. On console I can't do this since the auto targeting locks my target to the mobs and I cannot interact with the orb UNTIL I KILL ALL THE MOBS ON THE SCREEN!

Please do something to address this issue. This is extremely frustrating.

It should be possible to be able to pickup items and/or interact with any other game mechanic that normally requires the "X" button WHILE THERE ARE MOBS ON THE GAME DISPLAY AREA. The control shouldn't automatically be PERMANENTLY LOCKED on any mobs as long as they are alive and appear anywhere within the display area (i.e. even when they are on the edge of the screen not close enough to engage).

Please fix. Thank you!

On the Skill Assignment to Buttons screen, assign the interact action to a button that is empty (that doesn't have a skill assigned). That will fix your problem.

Sorry for me English.
This is not a realistic option or solution. Console players don't have the luxury of having as many 'buttons' as a keyboard so that we can arbitrarily assign an empty key dedicated for only interaction.

Console players using controllers have a very limited set of input buttons and there are no free/empty buttons that we can dedicate solely for interaction.

I have it assigned to LT + A and I have too many buttons. I don't feel like there's a problem in that aspect when playing with controllers.

This can work, but I wish they can allow interaction button to be assigned to multiple buttons, so I can use X in most cases, and R2+X in certain cases. I do not want to use R2 when in town.

I think this is a good idea. Allow the interaction button to be assignable to more than 1 button. Then I can use X, or L2+X depending on the situation.
