Blasphemy and support gems

Blasphemy doesn't seem to apply any support gems to the socketed curse. For example I have blasphemy activated with despair and decaying hex and heightened curse are socketed but neither effect is being applied. no chaos damage over time nor does the stat window reflect an increase in effect for the curse.
