PC and Controller

Apologies if this has already been mentioned....I use a PC rig connected to a 55" TV therefore mouse and keyboard isn't an option, so I use an XBOX Controller instead.
Some issues are driving me mad:
1. No way, I can see of getting to the Gem Crafting menu, using the controller

2. When clicking your Character selection, from the main screen, you have to press A but doing so prompts you to choose a second player for CO-OP. What I have to do is choose my player with the mouse and then make sure I press A during the first intro screen, in order for the game to load knowing I am using a controller. If I miss that press of A during the intro it defaults to using Mouse & Keyboard

I love using the controller but it seems that a lot of the options available to Keyboard users is simply not present in the controller bindings
