Ascendancy: Please nerf the 3rd and 4th Ascendancy trials by orders of magnitude

After 50h on my minion witch I found 1 coin for the 3rd Ascendancy (lvl 62+, 3 floor trials of sekmawhatever). I intentionally over leveled to 70 to be sure I would succeed.

However combinations of so called 'minor' debuffs destroyed me utterly. And while all enemies died within seconds, it was overall extremely frustrating and annoying.

1. Minions trigger traps. Debuff reducing movement speed if I or minions get damaged means my movement speed is at -50% during many stages. (some violet chains, no idea how the debuff was called)

2. Winter drought is supposed to remove sacred water at the end of a floor. That is a lie. It removes sacred water and random intervals, sometimes before, during or after every chamber.

Things like +50% enemy life aren't even an issue, but limiting the access to significant power ups in an ARPG behind a luck only based system is frustrating.

I at least will not play another 10h or more to find more of those coins. At the current stage maybe 50 of those are needed to pass this early game challenge.

Does the game even tell us how honor is calculated?

I took a debuff where I lose all ES, thought no big deal, I won't get hit. However, losing ES also dropped my honor by 1k...so rip.
Or just remove them.

What's the point in the sadism from GGG with ascendancies? First the Labs that you HAD to make specific builds for... or be very over-leveled to tackle and still had to deviate from your chosen playstyle/build to get through.

They did the same thing in POE 2, but made it even worse.

I'm a face-tanking, melee warrior and I'm not allowed to be HIT???

IF minions trigger traps that impact the player at all then that's a significant problem and, IMHO, needs to be taken care of.

IF there are wording problems with debuffs [or bugs?] then that is also something that's a problem.

I haven't noticed those issues but I didn't play with minions and the only time I deliberately took the "less water" affliction was when there wasn't a merchant left before the end of the trial [so I didn't watch water levels].



What I would try to do is to farm 1 & 2 floor Sanctums to see if you can get some really good relics. Honor Resistance, Increased Max Honor, and Increased Honor Restoration helped me a TON. Literally it was the difference between me making it or not.

This may sound really dumb but if you have a way to buff your max life and energy shield I believe you'll get extra honor for that.

If you can get Blink, without killing your DPS, then that's also something to consider.


Other than the "standard advice" I guess we need to wait for a week or so when GGG is fully (?) back from vacation.

Can you adjust the level of the enemies in these Sanctums to also get XP and better loot during those farming runs?

I totally understand you, I expected melee builds to be broken, but thought that was because of some balance issues. However the CORE system behind this trial is simply not possible for melee based characters. No idea how GrindingGames could think this would be a good idea after all the experience they have with POE1

Give us choices on trials don't block content behind poor game mechanics and RNG to get the right Room layouts for Melee's to progress.

Sekhemas is cancer for melee, and I can’t imagine enjoying it even as a caster it’s just too f$&king long! but trial of chaos is fair and balanced imho. A lvl 80 run takes me about 15-20 minutes and it Took me two attempts to kill trial master and first time i died at 15% due to pure stupidity, should have been a one shot. (Did wait until lvl 90 fwiw). If it wasn’t obvious, I don’t like any mechanic that can cost you an hour+ of time if you have a moment of weakness or distraction, so obviously I’m not a big fan of one portal and death penalty. Jack up the difficulty for all I care and make it challenging but quit punishing me by taking away my IRL time if I make a mistake

i find them good in current state. always overlevel by 10 or 15 levels, grind gear, do other things, then come back to them. The only important part is the first and second ascendancy, rest is a bonus.

If you have to overlevel (I did this as well), its not balanced. Either balance it properly for the stated level OR increase the level requirement to accurately reflect difficulty.

If balance is being done with full ascension in mind, then it is no longer a bonus but required.

Sekhmas/chaos need to be scrapped entirely and a new system created. It's an abject failure and I say that as someone that can -tolerate- Sekhmas (it just takes too damn long).
dont forget, you can reforge crap relics at the reforging bench to hopefully get something better.

Once you get good relics, the trial is much easier.
