Realmgate? How do I find one?

Finally found 300 breach splinters after 198 hours. It doesn't go into the waystone slot. It says it needs a realmgate. Had to google that, so that's annoying. Turns out it's a random thing I can find on the map. I haven't. What's the point of this breachstone?

1. It took ~200 hours to make a single breachstone. I have no atlas points for any league mechanics yet. That is way too slow. I should have all of them at this point.
2. Use of things like breachstones shouldn't also be gated by some other RNG. It already took 198 hours to make a breachstone. How many more before I find the realmgate? If I fail do I need to find 300 more splinters and another realmgate?

Realmgates aren't random. You have one at the start of your atlas and you can use it as often as you want.

It should be close your start point

lol, my guild-mate just ranted to me in chat about the same problem. He got a breachstone and had no idea how to find the realmgate. I told him it's by his start point and he had the same problem I did. How do you find your start point? The map is a complete mess of exploration.

There should be a small red skull at the edge of your atlas window. Clicking it will make your atlas jump to the burning monolith which should be on the same screen as the realmgate.

Why not just click the home button and go directly to your start point?
