Trials kill replayability for me
I am a casual player and I love this game. I am amazed how I ended up playing an ARPGs thanks to POE2. This game is amazing.
The only problem I find is that I the trials are a nightmare for me. I managed to finish one of each for my character and then whole idea of having to do them ever again with another character puts me off. I know I can play the game without Ascendacies (and I've been doing it mostly this way), but I don't really feel like starting a new character and being forced to run those trials again. The issue I have is that they feel like a minigame I hate within a game I love. The problem is that the ascendancies are locked behind them. Let me explain what I feel with the trials: It is like going to the casino to play poker (happens I want to play poker) then after a few hands someone says "Now you HAVE to play some Roulette if you want to keep playing poker". That is off putting for me. I mentioned it on another posts, I feel that GGG are shooting themselves on the foot with these trials if they plan to cather to a more casual audience. What would be in my opinion the way to fix it? Put (as it is the case in the rest of the game) a GOOD and HARD Boss, and keep the same game mechanics. Maybe design a particular boss locking each and every ascendancy maybe? I know that would demand a lot more work but it will make the game so much better and even ENCOURAGE replayability. well, I get your point.. but the good thing is, they get WAY easier the higher lvl you get.
with lvl 80 you can easily do the first 3 trials for 6 asc points. |

I don't think that is the case, last time I checked (lvl73 atm) the actual number of trials INCREASED to 3 floors! And the OP was about trials with a single floor lol.
No way I'll be putting myself through that kind of torture. I say all this with such a heavy heart, knowing this game is one of the best games in the last few years and being ruined totally with these room mechanics that simply don't belong to the aRPG genre at all.
