Beidat's Gaze worth it? (PoE 2)

I'm playing an Infernalist MoM build and always assumed I would spec into Beidat's Gaze as my 4th Ascendency. However, at least until I get much better gear it seems better to just take the small 3% life and 4% mana Ascendency nodes which feels very lackluster.

Taking the Node reserves 480 life for me but only grants 373 mana (effective life lost). The 4% mana node gives 86 mana. I don't see how a slightly higher regen would compensate for being able to take 193 additional damage.

My question is simple: Is there something glaringly obvious that I'm missing? I see a total of 21% increased maximum mana on the entire tree. I don't have it, but you can get up to 10% increase on your amulet. Otherwise it takes a Mirror-valued Dream Fragments to get increased maximum mana.

...Well before even posting this I found my "glaringly obvious." You can get 2% increased maximum mana per rune. I imagine once I get better gear that will be my go to. Even then, it wouldn't do much better than breaking even. Hopefully I'm either still missing something or it will be improved upon before the official launch.
