Item Progression is Terrible - Game Feels like a Waste of Time
|
There's little incentive to play POE2's endgame at all. Honestly there's little incentive to play past the campaign. The drops are like D3 at launch and they don't improve as you keep playing. So what exactly is the point?
Say what you will about D4 and LE, but at least I feel like my time is being respected when I play them. That's why I go back to D4 every season and LE (whenever they decide to have a new one). I know if I play those games I'll be able to play and have fun and gear a character myself. I won't need to deal with a trade website to obtain useful items or worry about a trade economy where no lifers play busted builds and price certain build-defining uniques out of reach for regular players. Here's how the progression in POE2 actually works... 1. Create a character, farm some currency. 2. Use the currency to buy gear from other players (because lets face it, you aren't going to find anything useful for your build). 3. Farm more currency using the new gear to farm a bit faster. 4. Use the currency to buy gear from other players. 5. Farm more currency using the new gear to farm a bit faster. 6. Use the currency to buy gear from other players. 7. Farm more currency using the new gear to farm a bit faster. 8. Use the currency to buy gear from other players. Hmm... earn currency, buy things, earn currency, buy things... its almost like having a JOB in real life. How is this at all acceptable? You should be able to FIND items that are actually useful for your character by playing the game. I won't be returning to POE2 season after season if the item progression stays the way it is. It's just not worth my time and it isn't fun. Last edited by whowe1#7244 on Dec 29, 2024, 3:51:34 PM Last bumped on Dec 29, 2024, 4:40:20 PM

Well, it is:
farm currency ~> buy gear with magic find ~> get more gear and currency ~> sell what u dont need ~> buy better gear ~> repeat. Since it is early access and the game is not finished - there is not much point or pressure to push hard into endgame, which is obviously not complete yet, same as half of the game. This is just an extended demo, which is going to go through a lot of nerfs, buffs, and changes within upcoming months. So instead of going all-in into pointless push into unfinished endgame with active work-in-progress class balancing on a demo version of the game - just check-out different classes, builds, playstyles. It is weird that so many people are trying to no-life and take this product very seriously at current development stage as if it is a finished fully released game. This probably originates from false expectations and lack of understanding on what this product really is right now. |

The problem with this game is, the probability that someone might get a better drop that you can ever "craft" is higher than even playing 300h and not being able to have a drop nor craft an item for yourself. So in this huge pile of drops of course you find better items that you could ever "craft" On top of that, this is not a "crafting system", it's just an enhancing system RNG based. But you have no base items, except the crappy drops. Tier 5 Rares are garbage, even they've said they should be rare and super powerful. 1 Using exalts on items feels like a total waste. 2 Divines are totally useless and just used as a trading coin. 3 Annoulment are so rare, it's disgusting. In 300h of play I've got 5! How are we supposed to "craft" anything? Of course some ppl in end game are very advanced and finally use hundreds of Omens and divines to get a good item. But what happens until then? How are we supposed to progress? Today I've bought a helmet for 2 Divines that I would never dream to drop or "craft". |

Ok
Step 1 is to self reflect.
