Forum Moderation Needs a Buff
All early access sections have turned into a shit show, and basically have been since PoE2 launch.
At this point I’d say 30%-50% of all posts and topics in the feedback section contain little to no feedback, and instantly devolve into name calling and shouting matches. Ironically, the PoE Reddit is moderated with a significantly heavier hand than GGG’s own forums, they’ve been banning people for providing legitimate feedback in even the ever so slightly saltiest tone. I think those banned people then just come here where they’ve realized there essentially are no (enforced) rules. I am guessing you are 2,000% underwater with the influx of attention and posters, that’s understandable. My recommendation: adopt a heavier hand with things as out of control as they are, it’s the Wild West out there. No warnings or probations, just jump straight to 1d, 7d and 14d time-outs. If someone is just attacking others in the feedback forum, time out. If a topic gets posted that says “PoE 1 players are trying to kill the game”, “people with supporter badges should be blacklisted” etc - basically anything that is attacking members of the community but providing 0 feedback for the game - kill the thread and tell them to post it in general instead. People responding to posted feedback by insulting the poster rather than debating the feedback should be insta-timed out as well. Im usually for a more lax moderation policyolicy, but it’s gotten to the point that it is a major impediment to actual conversations about the game. When the prisoners start to riot and are slaughtering each other in the cells, it’s time to break out the tear gas and take back the prison. I post this as someone who has gotten drawn into shouting matches in the forum that I shouldn’t have. I’ve had the time to reflect on it and realized just how out of hand it’s gotten. the solution is very simple, any time a mod has to [redact] anything in your post you get a few hours of time out. this will already improve this place by a ten fold

The passion is high on the forums, but there are so few instances of real substance. The only true solution would be to police the actual content itself...which will never happen.
PoE crowd is very vocal: the streamers, the randos, the redditors, etc. If someone spouts off nonsense (which 90% of the current PoE 2 posts are built on)...its going to get called out hard. Moderation will not fix stupid. Also...everyone thinks they are right. Always. There is no room for actual conversation to be had. Or some people post deliberately short, provocative messages with absolutely no meaning just because they LIKE setting people off. Moderation cannot and will not fix this. This is when its up to the poster to disengage with people they don't want to engage with anymore. The other forums (not feedback) are actually much more likely to have real conversations before they get destroyed. Most moderation is done via flagging. And then the flags get checked by (hopefully) real people. But flagging can very very quickly go from "working" to "blocking everything". A possible solution: character limits, daily post limits, hourly post limits, etc. So that one person cannot continue a fight for hours on end. Brace yourself....this entire thread is a huge invitation to the usual trolls. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Dec 29, 2024, 6:35:07 PM

I know it's a practically impossible ask under the circumstances, but it would be nice if Support could "encourage" forum posters to use the correct sub-fora. PoE General Discussion and Feedback and Suggestions are chock full of PoE Deuce topics that really oughtn't be there. ='[.]'=

I have to admit.
People who run to demand a censor, people like you, make me a little ill. No one is forcing you to read anything. If you don't like something, put on your big boy pants and move on. Its not that hard. Stop begging for a censor. Its shameful. |
