This game is not souls like
Stop saying that it is. There is nothing souls like about this game. Souls like games provide a skill floor that makes all content possible with no gear and nothing is gated behind RNG. This game has no skill floor and everything is gated behind RNG. You can one shot every boss with the right gear and you cannot kill a single boss with skill alone.

Most bosses feel like they were balanced around the assumption of optimal gear, which is hard to get when drop rates are so poor.

While I agree with your point about RNG, it’s worth noting that every Souls-like game FromSoftware has made—except for Sekiro—allows you to out-level the competition. So while PoE2 heavily relies on RNG, Souls-like games can also be trivialized in their own way.

As far as EA goes its gated behind “rarity”. So unless you have that word slapped on your gear, maps, and charms you’ll be in the poor house.

I agree, this isn’t souls like and JWR was foolish to have said those words at all.
Afaik every souls like game has fixed stats gear you can find if you go hunting for it and then you can fight a boss with far more complex difficulty than PoE2 bosses, with their few one shot mechanics, and there is no rng to improving your character and only skill involved in fighting a mob. PoE2 however has some Sirus/Maven/Eater/Exarch type mechanics (which I love) and rng on gear (which I love from PoE1). The problems are viable build diversity (always been a problem and probably a deliberate one to move metas and sell different mtx), astronomical high rng issues due to ‘ruthless’ esque low levels of loot dropping, no significant crafting to make even small (basic life/mana/armour/es/evasion prefixes and Str/dex/int/resistance suffixes) fixes to items, crippling drop rates of 5 and 6 link jewellers (running t14s and seen 1 perfect and not a single greater jewellers total since launch) and an economy which is so broken by loot rarity and the RMT bot/farmer situation (which was an issue on PoE1 but is 10x worse now). Don’t get me wrong here, I love the game and have ‘faith’ it will be great but at the moment it’s a mess. There is no way that there isn’t a senior staff member at GGG offices (hols would be middday 24 till 27th dec and 1-2 days for new years max) who could be making their third manifesto and pushing that out to settle the dissatisfaction currently rampant on forums and Reddit. Silence is a deathnell for a game, even Blizzard reacted to early dissatisfaction with their weekly ‘campfire’ chats to keep playerbase informed during their turbulent launch.
