Locked Account - being punished for reporting hacker

Hi,

TL;DR - stop locking account, without a Quick way to get them unlocked once secure to do so.

During the holiday period I was hacked and my items/divs were stolen.

Now, that is sad, but it is part of life - most likely, some trade app i used for PoE2 was scammy (Exiled Exchange2) as i cannot think of another reason.

But as devastating ad being "cleaned" was, i honestly feel much more devastated by GGG response.

I have advised them about the situation per email, AFTER changing my account password and verifying that all related is not affected (email/steam/PC clean no hack).

What I was hoping for? Nothing much, possibly ban for hacker account and costing him 30$ if nothing else.

Now, that may or may not have happened - no idea.


But what DID happen, is my account got locked out, automatically, within 10 minutes of my email.

And now, for the whole day (13 hours now), I was unable to Access and play, to grind back my items.

Based on other forum posts i saw, it might last for weeks longer!



GGG change Your damn procedure- "locking out account to prevent further damage" , when no further damage can be done, is DEVASTATING, due to no way to regain/unblock the account.

It truly feels like being punished for being hacked.


I Want to continue playing, but I cannot - because GGG is stoping me.

Not the hacker, not the loss of items, but GGG and its precedure.


At this point I am sorry for reporting the hacker- if I hadnt , I would have had enjoyable day playing, despite Starting from scratch.

As it is, i had a lousy and frustrating day.


I understand Your support team is busy - but because of that, introduce a way to automatically unlock account- OR STOP LOCKING THEM AUTOMATICALLY.


Why not add "once You have checked Your PC for malware/steam for hack etc. Use this link to reset Your password and unlock Your account" in the support email, advising that account has been locked?


How many tickets You guys must process about account needing unlocking, that there is weeks waitlist?

Maybe automise that ?

And if You can't- stop blocking automatically, as that feels worse then being hacked again a week after. At least hacker lets You continue playing.

And if anybody ia dumb enough NOT to change their password after being hacked- they deserve to get hacked again.

No.

They lock the account in the hopes that they can prevent the worst of any item removal, it also means that in all cases the hacker not only has your game account details but your email account details as well, meaning that any inept attempt to change your game password would fail because they can always go into your mail and retrieve stuff, the account can also be used to RMT spam, mule/store items and generally put you in a position where a perma ban could be applied for the actions of the hacker.

If You write to support that You were "cleared out", its kinda too late to prezent "worst item removal".

By the time You write support, its already all gone.


Using Your account for RMT? True, that is bad - would result in a permaban potentially and loosing Your account.

Oh wait, You loose Your account when it is locked anyway...


And if they have Access to Your email, and You haven't changed the password for that - they will have Access to Your new account details after You go through the months long unlock procedure anyway, making it all a massive waste of time.


And if they DONT have email Access, or You change both account +email password securing them then locking account does not help in any way.


As it is - want to play, can't play, and based on some other posts on the forum, might be unable to get my account back for as long as 2 months.

If ever get it back...

If I get hacked again in future i will NOT report it, as it is just not worth it , change password, let the hacker enjoy my stuff, and me enjoy my game.

Otherwise, he still enjoy my stuff - but I don't get to enjoy the game.

Makes You Wonder- how many people are affected but dont report, precisely because of this silly procedure?
