Pain Offering

I am playing on PC with a controller. I am trying to use the Pain Offering Skill and find that it only works a relatively small percentage of the time. Here are my observations.

1. I can cast it standing alone with my skeletons around me.

2. More than 50% of the time the skill will not cast, but it still takes the life offering.

3. Unless on cooldown, the skill is always lit.

4. I don't know if you need to be close to the skeletons for the skill to work. However, even why I try to get very close the skill is lit up and does not go off most of the time.

5. If there is a range within which you need to be next to a skeleton for the skill to work, shouldn't the skill be greyed out and not able to be cast if you are not close enough?

6. If the skill is lit up on your bar, shouldn't you be able to cast it if you have enough health and mana?

This is an important skill for the witch. Can you please tell me how to resolve this issue?

I have 14 minions + Infernal Hound
Im running 10 Arsonists, 1 Storm Mage 1 Cleric and 2 Warriors

It works about 25% of the time for me.

I actually had to remove dense macabre because it goes off and kills me without landing. This does not feel right. if the spell does not land it should not give penalties. There needs to be an interface option to "prioritize minion" where you can select a minion in the skill tree and put a checkmark for "sacrifice/effect priority" that would fix this and make everyone happy on controller.

Even on PC kb and mouse its glichy because we have to click on or the direction of the minion and they run everywhere when they arent getting stuck in doorways or bridges.

I would REALLY LOVE this game alot more if they made controller and KB mouse seamless without logging out for inventory purposes and or allowed custom UI commands or allowed UI Customization so I could make my own keybinds to target a specific minion or nearest enemy. ( Yes I know this isnt WoW but it worked so well on WoW)


I would also REALLY LOVE to have the arrow icon below the player be available in single player as an acessible option that shows the direction you are facing. The mechanic is already there for 2 player coop. If you made it availble as an option for single player it would allow us to see better through all the spell effects to target the right minions without having to hold right control stick
I have the same issue with a keyboard on PC. Very often I press the key and I see that the mana is spent, but the tower does not appear. It is pretty annoying that you have to press multiple times and, usually, try to stay pressing for a second or two to make sure that it works. In the heat of the action, you just don't have the time for that.

But I actually noticed the same with other skills. When I had flame of wall on my keyboard it would also not cast on every key press; but on the left mouse button it casts instantly every time.

I play on PC but using a controller and when there are monsters around Pain Offering fails most of the time. It seems that the game automatically casts the ability below the monster I am locked onto on controller, EVEN WHEN USING ENABLE HELD TARGETING and selecing a location for it to cast it still casts below the monster instead of at the location I chose.

A 'fast fix' would be to hugely increase the radius the ability 'detects' a minion to impale, it is currently ~0.5m radius and I suggest increasing to a very high radius like 6m, so that it would fail much less often.
