MSQ breaking bug with Asala in the Halani gates

Asala opened the first gate. When I got to The Impaler I defeated her and now Asala is just standing in the Impalers area and won't follow me to open the next gate.

I cannot move forward in the main story because the second gate will not open.

I am now in the process of allowing the area to reset so I can try again.
