Trial of Sekhemas Is Absolute Garbage

Can you explain to me how every single time I'm about to complete the Trial of Cunning at the final boss of always get an affliction the removes my evasion.

I AM A FKING RANGER HOW CAN I NOT GET HIT WITH NO FKING EVASION WHEN THAT IS ALL I HAVE.

This is utter garbage and need some kind of changes or are you telling me I will never get my 3rd ascendancy as a ranger.

Please help me understand this

Yep the entire trial/ascendancy system is complete trash.

Both trials are still pretty bad which is why people are now resorting to paying others with exalts for carry services.

I really hope they rework ascendancy as a whole, gatekeeping such important parts of a person's build behind such bad content is beyond insanity.

Sadly for now it seems like they want to keep them in, since all they did were some small nerfs in a patch. And the 3rd trial that you can choose to do for points will most likely be just as bad or worse than the other 2, since its rumored to be based on yet another divisive,hated mechanic from PoE 1.

Like I have no idea who got this sudden spark of inspiration to make ascension be tied to the most controversial leagues ever lol

If they're stubborn and double-down and keep the trials in, all that will happen is the devs will waste years of development time and money trying to "balance" these overdesigned systems while the playerbase hates those systems.

There's such a thing as too many systems. Getting secondary class and ascension points could be as simple as a quest chain or even gaining them on level-up. But the devs felt the need to make this fancy system that copy-pastes bad mechanics as its core design.

All of this just reminds me of WoW Shadowlands lmao

The fact that you have to rework your build just to do them some times really kills the fun of trying to make a unique playstyle

You do realize, unless you have another affliction where you’re not able to see the upcoming rooms, that you’re in control of mapping through the rooms. I’m a Ranger as well and finished up my 4th last night.

What rooms you chose is often not even the problem. The problems are that you don't have any control over the enemies that may show up, that the whole system is very much build dependent and also that the whole "honor" principle is completely against how the game usually functions.

It's bullshit, plain and simple and I rather do endgame without further ascendancy nodes than doing that crap again.

Yeah trials are a reason worth not playing this game altogether.

Major issue is trying to do them as a melee character, esp one spec'd into block since the first trial you have low block chance and by the time you do the 3rd trial in cruel the mobs don't care cause they'll always inflict some ailment instead (not to mention such a hardcore cut into your resistances w hardly any resistance nodes on the passive tree lmao)

I'm doing a dual wield build and even at full honour by the time I get to the boss, the boss himself unleashes endless chains of massive explosions my dodgeroll can barely (usually doesn't) manage to outpace because the aoe is always at least 20% larger than indicated by graphics (I'm on max)

It just sucks all fun out of the game cause it shoehorns you into specific builds and specific boons, cause if you don't get the 50% extra damage boon as melee you might as well as restart.

There was a reason it was one of the least enjoyed leagues in PoE1 and PoE1 had some insano builds. I really hope they tune it way tf down or buff the HELL out of relics

And for you "Lmao git gud" ppl, idk, if you want extra challenge take the sht afflictions that suck or maybe they could add debuff relics that grant other bonuses, idk. But your lot aren't who the game should center it's balance around.

We'd like a middle ground at LEAST. Where it isn't a gamble if your build, that has otherwise been doing pretty damn good, gets annihilated because oops you spec'd into armor so you could face tank :) meanwhile sorc or witch w several thousand ES (a single unique can make this easy by lvl 20 lmao, I did it) has like 9273927 honour.

The last floor before the boss had get a random affliction. I got the no evasion affliction 10 times on the final boss of TOC so tho what you are saying is true I haven't had the same rng as you did

I did it without a problem. 76% honor resist, 3k honor. Ez working my way up to do 4th. But i see how RNG can f other players (maybe im next?) and, imo, shit happens.
