[PSA] [Unable to play for over a week] Steam Link preventing me from logging in.

I haven't been able to play POE2 on my PC since purchasing it over a week ago.

While I've seen a few posts mentioning similar issues, I wanted to start a thread to emphasize the magnitude of this problem.

Initially, I played POE1 on an old Steam account that I lost access to about ten years ago. I purchased POE2 on my PS5 and have been enjoying the game.

However, my PS5 is currently broken, so I decided to repurchase the game on Steam, as the game has been marketed as utilising cross-progression.

When logging into the game via Steam, it prompts you to create a new GGG account or sign in to your existing POE account. If you attempt to link your new Steam account, an error occurs because your POE account is already linked to a Steam account—in my case, the old one from ten years ago.

Forum users have suggested using the standalone client to log in, but this isn't possible since the game was purchased through Steam, and my GGG account doesn't recognize that I own the game on my PS5 or Steam.

The GGG support team has recommended emailing support to resolve the issue, but it has been over a week without a response. This delay is understandable given the game's recent launch and its massive acclaim—it is indeed fantastic.

I would like to propose a suggestion to the GGG team, please if possible, reintroduce a manual unlink button for Steam on users' GGG accounts. There are likely too many support tickets regarding this issue, and by allowing users to manually link or unlink accounts, you would:

1. Resolve numerous player issues and increase the player base.
2. Significantly reduce the workload on the (likely overwhelmed) support team, allowing them to focus on other matters.

Thanks for reading and I hope we can get this issue resolved soon :) Happy monster-killing Christmas, everyone!

Oh and the PSA is don't do what I did <3
I have been stuck unable to play since release because of this stupid unlink steam process that requires interaction from the support team which is ATM completely useless and won't answer anything for over two weeks. You are screwed if you need them for anything...

Yeah, I mean, it's definitely understandable due to how big the game has got, but I just wanted to offer the simple solution of putting the unlink button back. They've probs got some old code lying around somewhere for it.
