Give us a death recap/combat log
Been playing the game for around 100h + now (first time PoE player) and absolutely love the game. One of the main thing I´d like to see added is some kind of death recap or combat log. I´m fine with dying/failing (even though you cope for a few minutes after blaming everything but yourself) but I´d like to understand/know why I died, what hit me and for how much (and what type of damage it was). Sometimes there will be so many effects on the screen with multiple AoE´s, explosions etc that it´s borderline impossible to tell what killed you.
Adding a death recap or combat log with information about what happened gives the player another layer of information that can help you to improve or finetune your build. Last bumped on Jan 20, 2025, 10:36:25 PM

Yeah the fact that this game sees fit to kill you in one hit (something that is bad game design and should never happen) and then not explain how it happened is very bad.

Agree!
The game needs a death recap. |

just make stronger builds 4head.
you died to damage git over it Add Scion To PoE2

That feature has been requested since POE 1 released; don't hold your breath.

The death recap you are suggesting isn't bad, but what would really be useful is a combat log, so that skills and gems can be tested, mechanics can be confirmed and clarified and builds improved.
A combat log would be invaluable! |

TLDR: Bumpity Bump Bump.

This would be such a game changer!

This is something I can wholly agree with, with no 'if's, 'and's or 'but's. Barring any technical limitations, this seems like a no-brainer. +1

The reasoning for GGG not implementing this in PoE1 was mostly "we don't want players to mathematically solve the game, so we don't want to give too much feedback".
And although I can appreciate that philosophy, I also can't agree that it is still the case in PoE2 by virtue of listing damage done to the currently targeted monster. With DPS testing practically implemented (albeit in areas where it is hard to pay attention to), I have to agree that a degree of after action feedback should also be available when you get pasted...that or do away with both. Consistent feedback levels I say. I would suggest a 5 second replay clip made at death of what killed you (albeit that could be a bit client resource heavy with maintaining a 5 second clip buffer).
