pillar of the caged god help
so how does this weapon work... does the weapon damage per strength mean i don't have to go into any passive damage nodes at all? what about if i have gain 25% of damage as chaos, wouldn't i want to scale chaos? what do i scale besides crit and flat damage? also is this viable without gemling legionnaire? i'm playing chayula monk right now and wondering if i can even use this weapon lol

" It does exactly what it says. 10% increased weapon damage per 5 strength. Gemling passive only grants you the LIFE out of the strength. It doesn't double your strength, it doubles your life out of your current strength. So you can use this on Monk no problem. However you need to know that you need to make a build that revolves around STR stacking. How much is this viable for monk I have no idea. 1. What about your gear? If you invest in STR, will you be able to equip your DEX/ES gear? 2. If you invest enough in DEX + INT, will the remaining dedicated STR points be beneficial enough? 3. What about Gems? How much INT + DEX or STR you need for your currently equipped gems? 4. Any damage. Doesn't matter if its chaos or elemental. Depending on what you got on your weapon. For best results I'd try to get 2-80 lightning damage. The more flat damage on the staff itself the better. Any damage node with EXTRA damage granted benefits you. There's gloves with strength that can satisfy the attribute requirements of weapons and skill gems. Will using them take away much from your build? You need to think about this. What you want to achieve, and first if its possible to do it. And if you have respec coins, try experimenting. I had 30k dps on my tempest flurry with 500 strength. But my build was armor. So gearing wasn't an issue. |

" i was wondering if the + weapon damage from pillar effectively replaced any need for outside + % damage when scaling flat damage. i'm not sure what weapon damage is. is it just for the stats on the weapon and doesn't apply to any outside flat damage sources? i heard that +36% crit runes on pillar is good cuz they act as a more multiplier, would that be better then flat damage? thanks for the help |

" I'm not sure. 4-100 Flat lightning damage is pretty big. if you can get corruption of 2 to 60, and put two runes of 1 to 20. Then those 10% per 5 strength applies to the whole number. Both physical and lightning. I replaced the staff I have with a normal one, and put 30% crit multiplier, the damage was nowhere near what I got on the lightning based staff. But then again, my build is not crit based. The buff of 10% applies to the staff damage. It doesn't apply to the critical multiplier. As a monk, you have access to crit multiplier nodes. Pretty easy ones to get too. As for whether it replaces the need for damage nodes, I'm not sure. I have 0 damage nodes, and I have huge dps. Make of that what you will. I don't have the coins to experiment with respecing because my merc died, and is now marinating in Standard. ATM, the damage on my Tempest Flurry skill is 10k, and it goes up to 30k with Charged Staff, and Rage. Rage is 48, so 48% dmg increase. |
