Death in maps is way too punishing
To be perfectly clear up front, I don’t mind the difficulty. I actually enjoy it, but with difficulty comes inevitable deaths, and currently the penalty for dying feels real bad.
1. You lose experience. 15% of a level or so. 2. You lose the physical waystone that you socketed into the atlas, making map sustain much harder. 3. You lose the precursor tablet mods that were on the atlas node. You could have worked for multiple hours to juice that node and the surrounding nodes. All that work is now permanently wasted. Pick 2 here, GGG. All three of these combined just feels like you’re flipping us the bird. Personally, I’d be fine losing the exp and the waystone, but let me keep the precursor juice. This would let me try the atlas node again with an easier waystone if need be. Or take the exp and the juice but leave me the waystone. As is, it’s just demoralizing and demotivating. Part of me thinks you’ve lost sight of the fact that video games are supposed to be fun. Difficult gameplay is fun. Dying can be fun. But losing hours of progress every time you die is not fun.
