Mana potion and Energy Shield
So, I posted a few days ago about a bug regarding Life Potions and Energy Shield (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3647772). It seems fixed. Great.
Now I have another problem, which seems to not occur to some of my friends. Using mana potion remove my whole Energy Shield. I know about the mana pot affix which says "remove X% from life" but - it occurs on use, not at the end - it doesn't remove a part of my life, but hit ES - it doesn't hit for a % of my mana potion, it sets my ES to 0 and starts recharging instantanly - I tried with a low level white potion. Same effect I double checked my tree, still no point spec'ed into potions, nothing should affect my ES when I drink mana potions. It really feels like a bug to me. If needed, I can provide more informations, let me know ; also I'd have love to link my character if it has any impacts but I'm unable to find how to. Last bumped on Jan 15, 2025, 11:46:32 AM

I found out what is happening. I can't edit the thread title but the bug is related to how the game checks our gear requirements.
In my case, my ES comes from my chest piece. It requires 86 int, and has 23 int as suffix. I respeced out some int nodes because why not, dropping below the 86int without the chest, but above with it. I don't play with weapon set point skill in case it matters. Now each time I use a mana flask, the game must somehow recheck if I can wear my body armour, find out I can't, set my ES to 0, then realize my body armour is actually equipped and starts recharging my ES I """"fixed"""" it by respecing 25 dex into 25 int but it is definitly a bug. |

This was actually happening to me last night. Same type of issue...I had weapon skill 1 points allocated to nodes that gave me 25 dex. For whatever reason when drinking my mana flask, it "swaps" to weapon set 2 and resets the ES. Once I pulled all of my weapon set points out of the tree...everything fixed. Def a bug in how that system is working.

Update : I happen to have int both on my chest and staff.
Yesterday I respeced enough int to cover the int on my body armour (25 int, so 5 nodes)and today I messed a bit around and found out that - if I respec out my int to just be above the requirement, drinking mana pot will remove my ES - if I repesc out *some* of my int to be 12+ above the requirement, drinking mana pot will NOT remove my ES Turns out when drinking my pots, my staff stats are ignored. I really think this is a bug |

Same here I have +22 in on my staff. When drinking a potion I removed all my ES from equiped helmet that is my only source of ES. Definetelly a bug.

Ok I found a workaround for this bug. I equiped as secondary weapon also staff with same (or higher) amount of INT, so now when it checks for requirements when drinking a mana potion on both weapons it will not remove my ES. Hope it helps someone.

I'm having a similar problem but with a bow/quiver character. Whenever I use potions, I get a massive FPS drop coupled with the sound of taking gear/gem on and off. It seems like using potions makes me lose the attributes from my quiver for an instant which then temporarily disables all my gear/gem that depended on those attributes. " Thank you so much for this workaround. I equipped a second set of bow/quiver with similar attributes and I no longer get a massive FPS drop when using potions. Based on this workaround, I think using potions momentarily swaps our weapon sets or it might be checking for attribute requirements from both weapon sets like you said. Either way I hope this bug gets fixed soon. |
