Whats the point in playing a Merc/gemling legionaire? slight rant

On paper, the Skills look really nice. Crossbow, Grenades.

But then you have a Ranger, that sits next to the skilltree.

Want to play poison? Ranger/Pathfinder is just better at this than a gemling legionaire, it gets x2 to all poisons (that is in this game a 2x multiplier).
you can easily fit the crossbow (or grenades) into your build because they have hybrid str/dex - at that point even the gemling has a "your highest stat can solve your skill gem needs" and you could choose bowskills, but then you would have to get 212-ish dex from the tree (a long walk to get those rangernodes to have flat 25 dex, while on your tree is a flat 10% increase for all stats. and this really does basically nothing when you do not have 200 of any stat (at that point it would be +20 btw, not +25). but no problem, just slap a 10% movementspeed unique (corpsewalker?) with 40%-of-maxlife corpseexplosions and no cooldown on your build an trash the entire map to get randomly oneshot because you are not abusing the miserable state of energyshield in this game.

want to play some ele-crossbow? still, ranger is better. it gets +1 projectile. thats 2x the damage.

a gemling legionaire gets +% on gems (what is kinda nice, but not x2) and +1 to all skill levels (what sounds cool but is utter trash. bowranger has +2 on quiver (can be scaled a lot with the unique bow and jewels) and crossbows have up to +6). this is maybe a 3-7% increase in damage.



after about 140 hours and lvl 88 i feel like the game at this point is pointing towards the same endgame like poe1:
find that one imbalanced, absurd overpowered build and abuse it for one league until it gets nerfed so hard it will never be played again.

right now thats a mathil-monk, during office-is-closed-times basically anything jungroan comes up with, anything with lightning/shock interaction
