Rune system does not fix what it is intended to fix

There are a LOT of complaints about gear being bad, often due to the lack of crafting control - where the only deterministic crafting we have is runes.

But the problem with runes is that they are the same level of base power for a level 1 item compared to a endgame item. Items have the same socket limit no matter what act they drop in and runes are allways the same level of power, an act 1 resist rune is the same as cruel act 3.

Runes are meant to ensure a specific level of base power, but as they do not scale at all they really are just used an additive power on top of already good bases.

As they are do not fix the loot problem, they are merely a band-aid on the resists, and not a particularly effective one either, as you cannot even cap one resist in act 1 using runes in literally every socket, you can forget about capping all your resists with the 60% penalty.

Also runes would never be able to solve the issue of bad weapon drops. Because those are even more dependant on good affixes before runes get added.

In short, our only deterministic crafting option(anyone can reasonably afford) is bad.

Iron runes definitely should add flat damage, not percent at the very least. There's like three different +% physical damage types, but only one flat damage affix.

Otherwise, do agree. Early on their great, but by late game their bandaids and used for juicing fantastic items. They can make them too strong or risk making those items even better, though.

It might be alright if Omens became more common. Ritual altairs should probably spawn more often in campaign rather than showing up only in Feythorn until maps, and their should always be at least one Omen pet reward menu.

This is why delirium is generally the better option for currency grind, at least it drops SOMETHING. You are guarenteed around 3 oils at the end of a delirium encounter, even if you get the worst roll that is about an EX. And expedition is the worst as they removed everything that wasn't rog and nerfed the crafting so hard that you cannot make anything with it.

Only value I see in expedition really is you get item vendors that scale with your level post 60.
