Turn off AUTO AIM / TARGET LOCK

Please disable auto aim / target lock on mouse and keyboard/WASD. we DONT need that. there is a good reason why I AIM somewhere to hit my skills yet the game decides to ignore that and do a 180 and aim behind me to something that is not even close to me. it is game breaking, and you don't even need this on a controller. please disable this option until you can add it as an accessibility feature. let us freely aim our skills

THIS!!!!!!!!
we need either an option for "force cursor targeting", or we need it to become the standard and get an accessibility option for auto targeting, like you said. also, I think it would be pretty cool if we could have an option for "directional inputs face cursor" so W and S would move foward and back towards the cursor, and not a fixed direction, and similarly, A and D would strafe in relation to the cursor. the cherry on top would be if skills that makes your character jump back only worked like that if you used them while walking back. would be cool if all skills did that if you are targeting melee range (on long range it would be very annoying).
I don't get it. I would love if I could target lock! it would make it easier for a newbie like me, but it seems like my spell always goes in my cursor direction and of course I miss a lot of spells because of that. what am I doing wrong?

autotargeting should be made optional in the settings.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
I really second this. its especially annoying on skill like slams since with such a massive aoe, its rarely beneficial to hit an enemy directly anyway.

additionally, locking on to an enemy completely removes the retargeting they introduced on some melee abilities in poe2, like rolling slam or the skill I'm using, vaulting impact. what will happen is that if I cast the ability without namelocking, holding down the button allows me to freely change my direction of movement during the skill which is amazing. but if I accidentally namelock an enemy when casting it, my character will absolutely refuse to stray from his path of locking onto that one enemy, and it gets me killed quite often. I heard people having similar issues with leap slam.

please make this a toggle. I get that its really useful for some players, but its genuinely awful on these types of abilities. or at least make it so that retargeting the ability overwrites the namelock.
oh, and its also awful on skills like unearth that target both corpses and enemies. that skill loves locking on to a corpse directly behind me while 5 enemies are charging straight at me from the front.
