Mana cost MUCH high
I'm playing with monk and have found many mana sustain issues, lets start:
My skills are level 28, and with higher level, have more mana cost, and thats "okay" (BASE mana cost of Storm Wave at level 28 its 179 mana, its insane). But we have just a few resources to reduce mana cost, I already take then all and use tons of mana regeneration rate in my build, my mana regen its 104/sec and I can't sustain that even using and spamming mana flask, and have no more reduced mana cost at tree that i can take, look how its insane the mana cost and its not sustainable: -Storm wave with links and reduced mana cost and inspirarion: 115 mana cost with 2.21 attacks per second, its my clear skill and its hard to sustain that for clear, but its "possible" -Ice strike with links and reduced mana cost: 105 mana cost with 5.52 attacks per second, its just impossible to sustain that in boss, its 6 link, but just ONE support skill gem have mana multiplier, I spam mana flask and pray for the boss die before my mana gonne, because its just impossible to sustain, have no more ways to reduce the mana cost and have nothing that gives "mana on hit" that it's not the unique ring Thief's Torment I think they should to make available another resources to reduced mana cost OR rebalance mana cost of skills Last bumped on Jan 28, 2025, 12:41:10 PM

Someone posted on here that mana cost is exponential as you increase level in POE2 vs. linear in POE1.
This apparently is a fundamental design shift, and what it means is it's no longer always a good thing to upgrade your spell level Apparently they WANT you to intentionally use lower level spells to manage mana. Personally, I think this is a bad design decision and player power should be kept in check other ways. At minimum if they keep this system they need a way to "roll-back" a skill level. Upgrading a skill you have 5-linked and put a bunch of quality into, only to realize "oh the devs nerf'd the shit out of high level spells this game and don't want you using them all the time" is a very poor new player experience. Many of the design decisions are like this: "we want players to be able to experiment with builds and not be forced into guides" then GGG proceeds to make a bunch of "gotcha" traps to fuck over players that try and just play the game without plotting literal fucking line charts of their skills before upgrading their build. |

GGG says a lot but in truth they want to punish the players for everything forcing a lot of time sink to fix it. "Learn from your mistake". Sadistic game design.

Yeah.
Here is my warrior experience: Struggle intensely to get life pool to 3k. Most skills costs hundreds of mana or more. Solution? Force players to pay for spells with the tiny HP pool they have, making it even worse to stay alive in melee range. What about skills? Takes five seconds for a single attack, and you just pray it hits something or that you aren't dead by the time the animation is over. Then go to youtube, see sorcerers with 15k energy shield spamming spells like its nobody's business, coasting content in the middle of elite packs. Make it make sense. And by that I mean, WTF GGG, is this "fixing melee"? Last edited by eldheim#2436 on Dec 19, 2024, 2:52:49 PM

Same. Have inspiration, still have mana issues.

Mana costs gets too high as you level up your skills to progress your power level. You can't always upgrade the amount of Mana you have, nor the Mana Regeneration, especially since the developers seems to think increased rarity of items should be a mandatory stat to chase and maintain, meaning you can't always go for meaningful equipment upgrades, as it'd tank your ability to get currency to maintain maps and try to get better equipment through "crafting". This leaves you with too little Mana to cast the skills you are using by the time they are around Rank 17 with some + skill level modifiers on equipment. This becomes really frustrating and makes playing the game feel cumbersome and annoying rather than fun. It just doesn't feel good. Only build where leveling skills actually feels good is minions. Since the cost of them goes down the higher their skill level. Go figure.

Mana costs are absurd even when you invest in mana regen/efficiency on the tree. It's even worse when you shell out a few div for a good amulet that gives you +2 to skills... only to discover that casting a ~300 mana skill with a pool of 800-900 mana feels terrible. To make matters worse, leech also seems to be broken right now.
" This is terrible design for an ARPG like PoE. The "we want you to consider whether to use low or high-level versions of the skill" design ethic works for games like vanilla WoW, where the tradeoff for using a low-tier version of a skill is that you can spam some cheap CC (Lv1 Frostbolt or Blizzard is the classic example). That doesn't make sense for PoE, where you ALWAYS want to build for damage unless the skill is strictly utility or CC. Last edited by Gwonam#5505 on Jan 18, 2025, 3:12:59 PM

" Yeah, this sucks! IMO.. doesn't make for a fun gaming experience. Mid 80's monk here.. crafted a beast of staff with +4 gem level(which took a lot of attempts to craft) damage is insane.. but am a one punch drunk! in that one swing and am out of mana. Wasted all those materials crafting an item I cant use... Taken just about every node on the tree and added mana leech where I can.. makes no difference, even with a, lets say a average staff.. am consistently running out of mana. I don't dare use my perfect jewellers orb.. My toon will pass out.. :) Hopefully GGG will make some changes in the future.. Current Mana cost at the moment, like I said.. doesn't make for a fun gaming experience.. |

" At this point reading all these "i spend 500 mana /second plz help" threads , i am wondering if i am the only Invoker using Bell / Flicker with Mana Leech on it ? There's multiple passives for that in the Monk tree , one support gem , the mod can be found on weapon/gauntlets ... it's just there so why all of you ignore it ??? It feels like you ain't really trying to find a way to mana substain , but just want GGG to make your glass cannon build more convenient , that's the only valid explanation at this point .
