Trade Website shows online but player is offline in console

When I use the trade website to find something I want, it says the players are online. I can click on their names and I see a whisper go to them for the item I want.

The problem now starts, when I click on their name in the console, it shows them as offline. I can't whisper, nor invite to party.

If I send them a whisper with the @ function, that works too...

What's going on ?

As an aside I have learned the etiquette when buying is to wait for them to invite you, if they don't maybe they are busy or have sold/are selling the item already.

So, if you sent them the whisper you shouldn't be trying to invite them. I gather this etiquette is taken very seriously by many and if breached might get you blocked by that player. As a single invite doesn't appear to intrude I think this is to avoid them getting spammed by many players at once.

If the item is still listed an hour later maybe try again? Maybe a poe1 vet can advise on what to do in that situation.

Ok I agree it doesn't sound like it. It was just a suggestion to consider.

I wonder is it a crossplay issue?

Happy to test it with you once I finish reinstalling to fix the map issue, if you like.

I mentioned in a similar thread that I have successfully sold items, they whispered me I was able to invite them and complete the trade.

Not sure if relevant to the op, but as it involves successfully inviting someone via whisper maybe it is.

newly found facts.

1. all players are shown as offline to me.

2. it's impossible to send party invitation to playstation players.

3. it's possible to send party invitation to PC players.
(although they are shown as offline to me, too.)

Same for me, I do not know how it should work. Tried login with main accounbt or playstation but not working
