Too Many Penalties for Dying in Maps

We are being overly penalized for deaths in map running.

- XP Loss
- Map slams shut on death
- All portals lost
- Map boss (if active on map) is lost
- Other content (if active and not complete) is lost

I know it's not supposed to be easy, but c'mon folks. Really?

I keep playing maps until i die and stop the game for a while...Really frustrating mechanics.

Hard yes! Punitive no, please.
One life pre Map is bad for motivation and a deal breaker for me... if that stays in the game i will abandon the game...

is is not fun...
it completly changes the game expierence for me...

it is just more grind to get the waystones

it lakes the away ... ok 2nd and 3rd try I have to do better feeling... yeah because there is not...

every mistakes, lags or even new mecanics become a dread all the time...
every map with a boss will become a chore and not fun...

if I play with friends and I or they have to wait all the time is somebody dies...

I even prefere HC to this ... here is is clear i have one life... thats fine .. thats the deal from the start...

Well, mathetically 6 portals just doesn't work unless you keep killing players a lot.

Imagine 90% clearrate on current system (very achievable), vs 90% no-death clears with 5 additional respawns. So 10% fail rate vs 0.00001% and naturally 6 portals had awful mob balance. Even 1 extra life would mean they would have to adjust the balance so that you die 3 times more than currently. (0.3^2*100%= 9% fail rate). Is that what you want? Dying more?

Regarding probability giving people 5 respawns is almost same as giving them infinite respawns. So that is why PoE1 was awfully balanced.

I just think waystones are very bad implementation for the mapping system, and best bandaid solution they can do is increase their droprate by significant amount. Then mapping will be somewhat fine but will need more "semi-uber" bosses alike Maven in PoE1 and tower rework for something more epic.

The problem about that, about mob balance is... We alerdy get one shot anyway with max res and 2.5k health and 60% armour... If the endgame didn't one-shot us as easily, i could understand your point. But, "dying more due to balance if we had more portal"? I don't see how. Unless they make the monster crazy fast and white mob one-shot us too.



As for the penatly, one good thing would be, if we die in a map, the events get REROLLED instead of being gone. If we're unlucky, it could be "no event", i guess.

One thing the OP didn't mention : we also lose the lost tower precusor boost.

I would be fine with this.

Just don't make us lose the content of the map. Dying with the xp penalty and losing the waystone already sucks, losing the grind chase makes it even worse. Especially when we get texture crashes or lagspikes.
It's two things, not 6. XP Loss, Map loss. The final 4 points are just components of the Map loss. If you want things to change, your feedback has to be more honest and in good faith.
First time player here:
I finally hit end game maps and I'm wearing level 40 gear because the gear i need never drops, why doesn't my class gear drop for me? I feel like this game just wants me to buy more tabs and roll new characters to get the gear to enjoy the one class build i want to play. HARD PASS i will just move on.
And the maps are boring, who wants to get one shotted death and start all over?

I guess im already done with this game, sad as i still have 750 in game currency and never got to see what i bought because the items are still not available.

I had fun with the camapaign, its a beautiful addicting game but where's the rewards? I cant move forward and i cant find gear to move forward. well i guess you'll fix it eventually or not. take care
ngl after a few deaths in a row losing bosses, mechanics, and xp, my motivation is gone for the day. not going to make me quit the game but definitely going to make me play alot less.
