what am i supposed to do against monkey roll attack

Hey guys,

HC player here, learning the ropes of PoE with my friends. I decided to play a dual weild auto attack based warrior through campaign and I love it. Everything except for one boss...

The monkey in A3. When he roll attacks, if I'm autoing him at that moment, it just simply kills me. I've seen the move used on my friends and it seems to knock them out of the way. I think because I'm stationary while attacking, (I have no choice in that) the knockback effect of the roll is perfectly aligned and I take every hit from it. Is there a way to solve this without completely changing my build? I'm falling behind my friends because they don't have to deal with the mechanic in the same way I do.

Thanks

Have you tried not attacking when he's about to, or dodge rolling out of the way? Perhaps you could use more life, armor, or stun threshold as well.
My witch can survive his dodge roll and I'm using armor+energy shield (I got hit by that thing twice, it was my first time fighting against that boss), you should invest on support nodes and passives, this game rewards us for it.

Sometimes the best approach is to not be overly aggressive, just poke and run.
Against some bosses it's more advantageous to roll in specific directions. If I remember right, with the A3 monkey boss the play is to dodge roll towards it.
Of everything Silverback did, the roll is what got me the most. I could stand in the big slam if I was full ES (or at least near full), could tank the basic attacks as a witch, but that roll seems to hit really hard.

I believe it multi-hits, and if you're caught in the center, you get pushed along, hit at east step, rather than pushed aside. Circling around the edge so you're more likely to be out of the center, and quick reflexes to avoid might help, but the situation will be a little different for melee than range as I could stand at midrange.
Something i've noticed about annoying abilities such as this; they won't be used twice in a row. If you haven't seen him roll in a while once he gets low enough on life to start doing so, stay back and anticipate one coming. Once it does, that's your window to be safe to go in close for a short while.
