"Damage taken from Mana before Life" is too literal

I found out that are a lot of nodes with "damage taken from mana before life" are around the MoM Keystone (top left) wich would be in the Templar or Witch area.
What the issue i see: this points only work when you take damage to LIFE, if the damage hit your Energy Shield, you dont use that modifier till you lose are your ES. So, being around the classes that usually have ES or Armour&ES build, having thoose nodes only aplying if you miss a layer of your defense already (maybe starting to work when you lost half you eHP) feel like is no good in most cases.

If it worked, you can reach around 20% (spending a good amount of travel nodes, so are not free) to help mitigate on one of the classes where the main defense is surviving (no evasion or block on Witch).

There's about 35% damage taken from mana before life nodes on the tree. These are generally intended to be used by characters that don't intend to go full Mind of Matter because of the downside that it ruins your mana regen, but still want to take advantage of things like Eldritch Battery to convert ES on gear into mana for more damage with Archmage. For those builds that still do have Energy Shield, a consistent strategy in PoE 1 was to use Uniques/Keystones that allowed a percentage of incoming damage to bypass energy shield so that it is hitting all three defensive layers at once to allow you to double/triple dip on recovery effects such as recoup and regeneration for all three forms of EHP getting value simultaneously. The fact that all of the nodes are so far away from one another is a bit annoying though.
