New Orbs [Deterministic Crafting]
This is an idea I had that I think would help a lot for players going through the campaign as well as the end game. These orbs vary from tier 1 to tier 5 and will drop in their respective "campaign" acts.
Tier 1: drops from all side quests and bosses in act 1 Tier 2: drops from all side quests and bosses in act 2 Tier 3: drops from all side quests and bosses in act 3 Tier 4: drops from all side quests and bosses in act 4 Tier 5: drops from all side quests and bosses in end game The orbs themselves are "grinded", when you kill an enemy with an orb you have equipped, and they fill an exp bar. At the end they act as a box and let you pick an affix/suffix of your choosing. Once you get the item, you can equip it on any item- doing so will automatically upgrade the item. A grey [normal] with 1 stat becomes a blue. Once you have 3 orbs on the item it becomes a rare [yellow], and at that point you can keep upgrading it up to 6 affixes. The idea here is that each tier upgrades the affix's power. So you could in theory grind act 1 until you got a item with 6 stats of your choosing- but they would be locked to tier 1. Then you would go to act 2, and grind there- and upgrade to tier 2, or you can mix and match as you would like. By doing this, you lesson the amount of RNG progression during your campaign, similar to how you could grind skill gems in PoE1. The Orbs Tier 1: tier 3 Tier 2: tier 8 Tier 3: tier 12 Tier 4: tier 17 Which affixes/ Suffixes: * Spirit, intellect, dex,strength [your choosing] * health/ health back on hit/ energy shield [your choosing] * critical strike chance/ critical multiplier [your choosing] * Base damage of X [your choice] * %increase to damage of X [Your choice] * More area for hits / more area for spells/ more area for curses * Armor/ mana/ or health regan [your choice] * health regan per second/ base health regan [your choice] The idea here is to provide the player powerful stats for grinding.
